Sometime in sastra saraswati is depicted as consort of visnu and sometimes( more often) as consort of brahma. Does anybody know why there is a contradiction of some sort here.

Anyway, there is Divya Sarasvati and Sarasvati, just like there is Sada Siva and Siva. Sometimes the scriptures don't specify.
