Tattva-viveka

an unexpected new family member

Gaurasundara Das - January 3, 2008 4:46 am

We had quite a surprise this morning when Mayapur came down to the new temple to inform us that Goloka was giving birth. None of us had any idea that she was pregnent at all. At 12:07 pm Goloka gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby boy. More to come.....

;)

Mayapurcandra Das - January 3, 2008 5:03 am

Radhanama Dasa - January 3, 2008 5:19 am

OH WOW!!!! What a beautiful boy!

;):Cow: :Cow:

Syamasundara - January 3, 2008 7:00 am

You've got to be kidding me!!!!!!!! :Cow::Party::Cow:

What a beautiful boy. Does GM know? What's the name? The first name that came to my mind is Narayana, because in Bengal they say: "Atithi Narayana", or the unexpected guest must be given the same treatment as God himself, because, you never know, he or she could very well be.

On a different note... :Cow: that's not good you guys! The father could be one of Goloka's sons... varna sankara! ;):Skull:

Who's the disattentive gopa? Or maybe you've always been aware of who she hangs out with, just you never saw her mating. Yeah, that's probably the case, anxious me... :Whew:

Braja-sundari Dasi - January 3, 2008 8:56 am

Wow! What a great surprise!!! ;)

Syama Gopala Dasa - January 3, 2008 10:38 am

wow!

Gandiva Dasi - January 3, 2008 12:00 pm
;) Wow a playmate for Rati! That must have been quite a shock for everyone! He's handsome.
Prema-bhakti - January 3, 2008 3:33 pm

Awwwww. He's cute!

But what is going on there! :Cow: The ladies need better protection, no doubt. Hopefully that will be the only surprise visit from the stork.

Rasa-parayana is eager to know the name of the new baby bull. ;)

Nitaisundara Das - January 3, 2008 5:26 pm

WOW! we are all blown away here. Vrindaranya is wallowing in separation pains from the new little guy. cant wait to meet him.

Vrindaranya Dasi - January 3, 2008 5:35 pm

I'm absolutely devastated to have missed this. Please post as many pictures as possible to ease my separation pangs.

Guru-nistha Das - January 3, 2008 5:45 pm

The name of the new calf is Adbhuta. It means astonishment and fits well with the feeling all of us had when we saw what was happening. Guru Maharaja just called me a few minutes ago after hearing the news. He was totally blown away! Poor Vrindaranya was devastated that she wasn't here for the birth and requested for more pics, so expect that today.

When the calf started coming out, I saw from the size of the hoofs that this guy was going to be big. And he is, he weighes 29 pounds, which is about 10 pounds more than Rati weighed when she was born. He' salready about the size of Rati. But the funny thing is that he's Seva's kid and Seva is tiny.

The birth was very fast and seemed painless. When we ran up to the cow pen after Mayapur had ran down to the temple site and shouted "Goloka is giving birth!", it took only about 40 minutes until Adbhuta was lying on straw, all slimy and surprised.

We were really nervous at first because if something would've gone wrong, we would've probbaly just broke down and cried instead of knowing what to do. But luckily everything went really well. He started nursing Goloka in about an hour after being born.

After a couple of hours I picked him up and took him to the Deity room to have a darshan. As I was stepping into the temple with the little guy in my lap, I heard a sound and felt something smearing on my arm and falling on my thigh. I'm sure there's a verse somewhere in the vedas that says how auspicious it is to be pooed on by a newborn calf. At least Mayapur got a good laugh.

Prema-bhakti - January 3, 2008 5:54 pm

Nice story GN. Great name! ;)

Gaurasundara Das - January 3, 2008 7:37 pm

Syama Gopala Dasa - January 3, 2008 8:03 pm

how do you know it's Seva's?

Prema-bhakti - January 3, 2008 8:25 pm

Adorable. Those pics of the boys and the bull are so sweet! :Cow:;)

Swami - January 3, 2008 8:49 pm

Wow, ;) I am speechless!

Vrindaranya Dasi - January 3, 2008 8:59 pm

What a picture of Adbhuta coming out! Priceless.

Apparently Goloka was giving Gaurasundara a lick! And it appears that greedy Gurunistha is stealing all the nectar, including a nose rub. What a sublime look the little gent gave while being weighed. In some of the pictures, he looks like Mohan, especially the nose.

Adbhuta's half sister Srimati was also rather hefty at birth (although only perhaps 22 lbs.) She stayed small though, so maybe Adbhuta will as well.

Keep the photos coming! I wish I could be there...I'd trade in the eighty degree weather (28 degrees Celsius) swimming at the beach (which we did today) for freezing weather and Adbhuta's darshan in a second!

P.S. I think that I'm indirectly responsible for Adbhuta...I put Goloka in the bull pen so that she could be with her son Prasad and not get bullied by Raga. Seva is one expert guy...all this went on under our noses without anyone suspecting anything! Make sure the gal gets plenty of treats...but not more than about a cup and a half of grain a day!

Vamsidhari Dasa - January 3, 2008 10:48 pm

OMG! One only has to blink and little bulls are popping out. He is so adorable! Great job with all the "midwifes" in attendance I wish I was there too.

All my love to Adbuta, looking forward to seeing him soon.

;):Cow::Cow::Party::Skull:

Gaurangi-priya Devi - January 4, 2008 12:20 am

Congratulations on the unexpected surprise, Adbhuta. And yes, as Vamsi said, you all look liked very responsible and attentive "midwives". Great photos, and he is so adorable.

Guru-nistha Das - January 4, 2008 1:56 am
how do you know it's Seva's?

Don't you look like your dad? ( I hope you do! ;) )

Rathi Krishna Dasa - January 4, 2008 3:02 am

Holy cow! (pun intended)

Maybe you need to take a lesson from my good friend Pyari Mohan in Connecticut:

Pyari Mohan works as a magician and uses rabbits in his act, of course. When Dhanurdhara Swami was visiting the Hartford temple, Pyari showed him around. Maharaja noticed that one rabbit stayed a cage indoors, while one stayed in one outdoors. Maharaja inquired further asking why one is outside and one inside. Pyari's response was the female stayed indoors and the male outdors keeping the rabbits from, well, being rabbits. ;) Maharaja's response? "Wow, Pyari. You sure do run a tight asrama."

Syamasundara - January 4, 2008 5:54 pm

Aaah... ki adbhuta!

I am yet to experience the birth of a calf, but those pictures are probably the best so far; they caught all the typical moments. One better than the other, my favorite ones are the one when mother and son look at each other and he's still in the placenta, the nose rub with GNu, but most of all, the one where Gaurasundara is hugging Adbhuta, and Goloka is kissing Gaurasundara, because all the time I was wondering how she felt with all those humans watching her: reassured? Nervous? Indifferent?

Everybody looks so radiant, like the smile on my face while watching the pics, and I finally got to see Babhru, I guess...

So now we are at 14 buddies? It would be nice to have a webpage with a photo genealogical tree.

this would be super cool! Adbhuta is adorable.

Tadiya Dasi - January 11, 2008 3:49 pm

Wow, what a surprise! But a happy one :Confused:

The little one is soo precious (and the photos are adorable! Thanks for sharing  )

Mayapurcandra Das - February 11, 2008 4:40 am

Adbhuuuuuta :):dance::wub::Cow:

Syamasundara - February 11, 2008 7:27 am

That is so sweet...

One thing I wanted to say since the previous youtube cow video: don't we have some Govinda jaya jaya we can use for the background music without infringing any copyright? With all due respect for Nityananda selling the holy name in the nama hatta...

Braja-sundari Dasi - February 11, 2008 2:57 pm

Wow! He is as big as Rati!

Babhru Das - February 11, 2008 3:56 pm

Whoa! He is as big as Rati already. Has he figured out by now that not everyone has milkies? (I remember the Hell Raisers finding him a little annoying in that respect.)

Mayapurcandra Das - February 13, 2008 5:03 am

Ok Syamu, if you have any music like that, let me know, then I can go with it, and do next one movie with music which is more connected to cows

p.s. (sorry for my English  )
