First chapter of BG - Vishada yoga: Yoga of Despair

Yamuna Dasi - December 7, 2008 10:51 pm

I noticed that each of Tripurari Maharaja's chapters of Gita has a subtitle, containing "yoga" in it. He has called the first chapter of BG - Vishada yoga: Yoga of Despair.

While SP's subtitles for the chapters are different, for exampe the subtitle of the first chapter is "Review of the armies on the battlefield of Kurukshetra".

Does anybody know if these subtitles are given by the authors as an explanation of their view of the content of the respective chapter?

Guru Maharaja followed Sridhara Swami (the ancient) in this. Srila Prabhupada followed Baladeva Vidyabhusana and Visvanath Cakravarti.

Do you mean that they have their own commentaries of Gita where have used these subtitles for the chapters?

Thank you!

Maybe somebody knows when Maharaj translates "sri bhagavan uvacha" as "the Lord of Sri said", does it mean "Radha's Krishna"? Who is Sri?

Guru Maharaja explains this in his commentary to Bg 2.2, the place where the phrase first occurs. :)
