One MUST go to the summer retreat!
This is something you have heard numerous times. One MUST participate in the summer retreat. But it is also a statement that we shouldn't understand as a law, as a restriction on your autonomy.
To understand it as such is to take a superficial viewpoint. It is not that the scriptures and the vaisnavas seek to state this as a hard rule, but rather to convey a feeling, "I must go to the island to hear from Guru Maharaja!"
"For me there is no alternative! I must go! It is in my own best self interest to go! Let me leave everything else, and go. Nothing else matters!"

It is thus with the greatest of joy that we are proudly announcing the upcoming summer retrat for the year 2009!
We have received a promise from Guru Maharaja that he will join us for almost a week, sharing with us his realizations, his wisdom, but most of all his presence.
The dates for Finland are not yet a 100 percent sure, but we know the retreat to take place at the end of July. With the most probable days being from the 21st of July to the 28th of July.
Should you feel the unbearable separation from fellow vaisnavas, you are free to join us on the island whenever you wish in July. We will be there!

We are taking preliminary bookings for attendance, and would love to see you too on the island.
As for those participating we ask for a 50 euro fee for food and transportation.

The program includes good friends, good food, good talks, bathing in the smoke sauna, swimming in the sea, meditation under the sun that never sets, sleeping too little and laughing a lot.

Guru Maharaja has now confirmed that he will arrive in Finland on July 22nd, and leave to Poland on July 28th. We would appreciate it if most of the guests would arrive on the 21st, as it's quite a puzzle to get everyone to the island. But don't worry if you can only make it here for the weekend, shorter visits are fine with us, too! Just remember: I MUST go to the retreat!

So I guess this confirms that GM will not be in CA. for SF ratha yatra (July 25)... What about Janmastami?

It looks like Baladeva Purnima and Janmastami may make for a week long festival at Audarya.
I will send out official details this week!
