jaya rama and jaya guru maharaja!

Gaura-Vijaya Das - April 3, 2009 3:03 pm

On this doubly auspicious occasion of the appearance of Sri Ramacandra and the day of our Guru Maharaja taking sanyasa, I wish everybody.

GM exemplifies feeling for Krsna, yet to set an example for us also follows dharma like Sri Rama.

Mahaprabhu has two arms of Rama and he exemplifies dharma too.

Jaya Rama!! Jaya GM!

Surprised at this

Jules Michelet (1798 -1874) French writer and the greatest historian of the Romantic school said of the Ramayana:

"Whoever has done or willed too much let him drink from this deep cup a long draught of life and youth........Everything is narrow in the West - Greece is small and I stifle; Judea is dry and I pant. Let me look toward lofty Asia, and the profound East for a little while. There lies my great poem, as vast as the Indian ocean, blessed, gilded with the sun, the book of divine harmony wherein is no dissonance. A serene peace reigns there, and in the midst of conflict an infinite sweetness, a boundless fraternity, which spreads over all living things, an ocean (without bottom or bound) of love, of pity, of clemency."

Such was the first and enduring impression made on Michelet by the Ramayana.

Jaya Rama!!

What a beautifully poetic description! Jaya Sita Rama!

I was reading how the Acaryas including Madhava, Ramanuja, and Vallabha are writing in defense of Sri Rama's certain actions like killing of Bali or banishment of Sita to show that he was upholding dharma while doing so. They want the protect him against people who don't have faith in the actions of Bhagavan.

But at the same times gopis criticize the very same actions of Sri Rama and chastise Krsna for them. It is because they have so much intimacy with krsna, that they can criticize, rebuke or joke with him in any manner they like(they not only chastise Krsna for certain actions in Rama Lila but even for his daily actions in Vrindavana, they just enjoy rebuking him!). But that is different from the criticism which non-theistic people level on bhagavan(duryodhana in krsna lila or the brahmana in rama-lila). There is no intimacy or love in that criticism.

It never fails to amaze how intimately the gopis and gopas can deal with krsna. Such a high ideal! I am honored to be even get this conception of Absolute. It is all grace, nothing else! Cannot forget all this intimacy comes after extreme self-sacrifice which culminates in self-forgetfulness. So to tease Krsna and joke with him is not a cheap position.
