The Big Apple
Tattvaviveka is long overdue for a report from its Finnish correspondents, so here goes! But not from the backwards old world, but from the leader of the free world - USA.
Inspired by Guru Mahraja we too wanted to take a shot at book distribution in NYC - though as the lightweighters we are, we didn't take to the streets, rather we set up our book table at the 69th Regiment Armory between the 25th and 26th. (Suitably so, as it was the place where America was first exposed to the revolutionary modernist art, including Marcel Duchamp's Nude Descending a Staircase, No 2.)
The event we attended was called Mocca, which is a convention put together by The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art.
From their website:
The Village Voice calls the MoCCA Festival ""the best small-press nexus (anywhere!)" Now BIGGER than ever! An incredible weekend of comic and cartoon art exhibitors, panels, lectures, sketches, autographs, and more! Thousands come every summer to meet and purchase works from some of the world's best cartoonists, animators, and graphic novelists.
It was tons of fun, we sold well, and we have lots of pictures to share - most of them of our belowed customers. (Nothing like looking at pics of total strangers, right?)
I'd like to point out that the reason why we sold a nice big box of books is that Kamalaksa simply talked to the customers until they were too overwhelmed to escape. It's a great scheme: I sit there smiling shyly while Kamalaksa brags and boasts about the books and his talented wife. This is real humility: outsourcing your pride.
And don't miss this blog entry:

Nothing like a satisfied customer!
Great job!
I'm so jealous of your seva request from GM. I NY.
Speaking of your drawings, is this map that Swami is holding on the picture available somewhere?
There is a scan of it on the pioneering Costa Rica thread. I do not know how high quality the image is though. Otherwise, the only place in the three worlds would be Gurunistha's yurt...
Limited edition big time...
I could perhaps negotiate a reasonable price...
Business man there... No problem, I found it in the Costa Rica thread in good quality resolution. Beautiful!
