Kitsugi

Prema-bhakti - June 29, 2013 5:29 pm

I have been thinking about this Japanese concept kitsugi and it inspired me to start writing something. I remember GM referencing Jiva Goswami in regards to how Krsna feels more ananda when he embraces his devotee who has gone through many trials upon finally gaining entrance into the land of faith. I am obviously paraphrasing here. When GM was in NY, Yogesvara mentioned the same reference to me. When I wrote him later for the reference, he said SP personally told him that. I have also heard it referenced by one other devotee who also did not know the reference but thought it was from one of Sri Jiva's Sandarbhas. Anyone?

I have no idea of the reffenrence but I`m curious why it reminds you of kitsugi?

Well the statement I am referencing is that Krsna is getting more pleasure upon meeting a devotee who has struggled. With kitsugi the underlying concept is that if something has been damaged or has a history it becomes more beautiful and is highlighted with gold. So the crack in pottery are filled with gold highlighting the imperfection. Make sense Braja?

Yes, Prem, very beautiful. I guess my immediate thought was: "well we didn`t fall so we are not broken, we are just greasy pots, covered with carbon black " ;)

I'm thinking it may be from Sr Jiva's Krsna-sandarbhas, Anyone on here has read that? Brighupada?

You mean kintsugi, right?

Yes, thanks Yamuna.

Well it's not that I knew the right spelling, Just Googled the new for me word and Google corrected me :)

It's so beautiful the idea of "turning ugly breaks into beautiful fixes"!
