Tattva-viveka

More DVDs please!

Nanda-tanuja Dasa - December 9, 2004 11:24 pm

So far we have only Govardhana Puja 2003 and Radhastami 2002 DVDs available. Is there any more in the pipe? I just saw Radhastami one yesterday and want to have more!

Ratha-yatra 2003 class one and two are done, but we ran into some difficulties so I haven't been able to release them. Some devotees' DVD players were not able to read the disks. It appears to be a compatibility problem due to the Mac platform. I think I have a solution, but I'm waiting until we get the DVD player so that I can do extensive testing. If you want to purchase those two DVDs before testing, let me know.

Right now I am very limited in how much time I can spend researching and resolving problems with the DVDs. Even producing a bare-bones lecture DVD takes a long time, but I would like to see more to be done with the DVDs; for example, a nice intro for the lecture DVDs and a video of Audarya. Because it is such an important seva, we plan to have Guru-nistha work on it when he comes in January. Ideally it is a main service for someone. Narasingha Maharaja has practically all his brahmacaris working on video, but then in India it is inexpensive to hire people to do the other services.

It will take a while for Guru-nistha to get up to speed with the programs, create the intro that can be used on all the lecture DVDs, and resolve the compatibility issues, but once these things are done then it will be relatively easy to come out with the lecture DVDs on a regular schedule. So I beg a little more patience on the DVDs. Our bottleneck is manpower (peoplepower?), but more is coming soon.

I have yet to buy the 2002 dvds, shame on me, but I'm already looking forward to more dvds. They have so much potential in this age of visuality.

Problems with dvdr+ and - are quite common. The dvd player may not be able to read them, probably a problem with older dvd players. The recording software is also of influence and the burning speed also. Generally burning at single speed is recommended, but this takes more time obviously. So a lot of factors influence this. I'm sure Gurunistha will be able to figure it out.
