Subtle messages that Nature sends us

Nanda-tanuja Dasa - January 3, 2005 6:35 pm

It's a heavy rain season in California now, its been raining for several weeks now, but yesterday it was quite sunny. I was taking out garbage and have noticed pair of snails hiding in the gutter of my house seeking refuge from ravaging weather. It made me think of snail's consciences in comparison to human one -- what does snail know about the purpose of house gutter? Does it know how futile is his attempt to find refuge in the place which will surely bring him death tomorrow? And then I was thinking about human consciences in comparison to consciences and knowledge of God. Like insects we are running pushed by our ignorance to find refuge in the gutter of the Universe. How ignorant are we to think that human is the king of creation and crème de la crème of what Universe has to offer. We are enjoying warmth of the sun today just to be washed into oblivion by the force beyond our comprehension tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing your insights. There is so much to be learned from nature. Or the Supersoul, as he uses our environment to remind us of deep truths pervading the creation...
