Is there a danda by Nityananda Prabhu?

Citta Hari Dasa - January 18, 2005 5:34 pm

Yes there is. It's dark green bamboo; Guru Maharaja put it there one day about a year or two ago.

Haribol!

Their purple outfit is really nice! What are the names of the silas that you're worshiping at Audarya?

Brianfeather - February 7, 2005 2:15 pm

We have four silas. To Nityananda Prabhu's right is a large Govardhana-sila (Giriraja), to Mahaprabhu's left are Krsna-Balarama (visible in the picture of the green outfit above), and to Krsna and Balarama's left is a small Govardhana-sila worshipped as Radha-Krsna (on a separate table, not visible).

Narada-kunda Dasi - February 8, 2005 6:29 pm

I wonder if their increasing beauty has anything to do with their being photographed and admired on this forum

Prabhupadas' Rhada Krsna looks so nice Guru Maharaja.

Wonderful Deities. Who dresses Gaura Nitai and who paints the silas?

Citta Hari Prabhu dresses the Deities and paints the Silas. The daily worship of the Sri Sri Giriraja Radha-Madan-Mohan varies I think it is done by Vrindaranya Prabhu now. Regardless, the Deities are always splendid.

In service,

Vamsidhari d. ;)

Haribol!

Is there significance to the shape of the silas. I've seen mostly round silas, but those at Audarya are more square shaped. Is that significant?

Also, is it advised for grhasthas to worship silas in particular? Is this before or after initiation?

Just curious,

YS,

Sounds like you are talking about Salagrama Silas not Govardhana Silas.

Traditionally, murtis ("deities") were worshipped only in temples; grihasthas would worship silas at home. Nowadays this has changed, so that many people have murtis on their home altars. Sometimes people worship Gaura-Nitai murtis before initiation (though I think Guru Maharaja disapproves of this), but for silas the standard has always been that one cannot worship them before (second) initiation.
