Happy birthday, Guru Maharaja!

Bhrigu - March 12, 2005 1:58 pm

I know that the real Vyasa-puja is still a couple of weeks down the road, but since the birthday apparently is today according to the Western Calender, I cannot resist saying happy birthday, Guru Maharaja! May you live a hundred years! :(

Shyam Gopal Das - March 12, 2005 2:39 pm

Happy birthday, Guru Maharaj, and may you live more than a hundred years! :(

Ken - March 12, 2005 7:37 pm

As I am completely remiss in making a timely submission of my respects to Swami this year, I must "out" myself in this regard :( and nevertheless offer birthday greetings in this more mundane venue.

Dear Swami, may the celebration of your appearance be joyous, may Krsna continue to bless you with your wondrous ability to capture our hearts, and may you live long enough to reap the obeisances of all vaisnavas everywhere.

Happy Birthday!

Swami - March 12, 2005 7:41 pm

I appreciate all of your sentiments. By the secular calendar I was born on this day 56 years ago in the Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck New Jersey, just outside of New York city. I feel fortunate.

Babhru Das - March 12, 2005 8:42 pm

A happy birthday from us at Audarya Bhavan, in the middle of the ocean! What an auspicious beginning, and how fortunate for us.

DEAR GURU MAHARAJA,

WISHING YOU A MOST HEARTFELT HAPPY BIRTHDAY. THANK YOU FOR TAKING BIRTH SO THAT EVENTUALLY WE WON'T HAVE TO.

NrsinghaDas - March 13, 2005 1:54 am

Happy Birthday Maharaja!

Swami, you are representing a very important principle in the present day Vaisnava community with your independence. Although this independence is actually only apparent, because if it is traced back to its origin it will prove to be adherence to path of your guardians. This is exemplary and as the time passes more and more continue to appreciate that.

Bijaya Kumara Das - March 13, 2005 6:59 am

The Holy Name Hospital? I couldn't believe that one when I read it. And what do you mean 56? I stopped at 49, and last time I saw you I remember saying you become younger and more radiant every time.

We feel fortunate, too.

Happy Birthday Swamiji! Long years and much happiness! I wish you many satisfying disciples and many more books to come.

Swami - March 14, 2005 3:37 am

The Holy Name Hospital? I couldn't believe that one when I read it.

Yes, a Catholic family and Catholic hospital—and I remain very catholic (of broad or liberal scope; comprehensive) in my Gaudiya faith by the grace of the Holy Name.

Caitanya-daya Dd - March 14, 2005 6:51 pm

Two days late (sorry!):

I also add a Happy Birthday, Guru Maharaja. How befitting you should be born in a hospital called Holy Name Hospital! And in New Jersey, of all places! :) (Krsna is amazing, isn't he?)
