On one of the other threads Pancatattva asked if anyone was interested in starting and "Audarya East." I thought I should let everyone know that I am veryinterested in somethign like this, and I am actively looking into purchasing land in Western North Carolina around Asheville (with no money in myh pocket) 
. My idea for the communiyt is a little different from Audarya. I would like to buy land, designate a portion for a monastery/temple, and sell the remaining portion in plots to hoseholders. If anyone is interested in participating, this is the place to comment.

Pancha Tattva and I are very interested in this. For years we have been dreaming of some community where we could have sva-jati association, "of the same caste". What else could one ask for?
If any devotees have questions about the Asheville area we can try to answer as much as possible. I will post some personal as well as official descriptions soon.

Thank you for your interest Madana Gopala. I think the word you were looking for was sajatiya, not svajati. It means those who are like minded or of the same group.
Otherwise the area around Asheville is absolutely beautiful and within view of the Smoky Mountains (lots of bears). Asheville itself has 90,000 people and the surrounding area that feeds off of it is 200,000. The very big city of Atlanta is only 2.5 hours away. Plenty of facility to find work in town and live and play in good association.

Before I left Chicago for San Francisco last summer, my girlfriend and I were seriously considering Asheville, NC. It is beautiful and offers a lot. It's still a possibility that we would head back east after school. I'm so excited for you all! Lots of young college kids in the area...
