(note to myself: must learn to play the kantele)
Nanda-tanuja, you are hilarious
Appologies to those searching content of a more serious and spiritual nature. It will not be found in this post.
Nanda-tanuja has made an valiant effort in finding a piece so aptly representing our cultural inheritance that one cannot be but amazed. Its value is of such greatness that it is with pride we announce: we are the Finns!
But as not to obscure things in favor of our beloved country of birth, we in turn wish to glorify the land of Nandatanuja.
Artefacts tell a lot about a country, and here we see a poster gloryfying the splendid qualities of homo sovieticus, the soviet man.
With kind regards,
Your friends from the west.
ps. all of this is written with good humor not intended at offending anyone. Please take the post as such ; )
and a link to those not familiar with the vocabulary used.
hehe, that's a blast from the past. For curious this is a translation of the poster.
Little Octobrists' Rules:
note: Octyabryata (Little Octobrists) -- members of Communist Party's youth organization for children ages seven to ten in the Soviet Union
1. Little Octobrists are future Pioneers.
note: Pioneers -- members of Lenin All-Union Pioneer Organization, the Communist Party's youth organization for children ages ten to fourteen in the Soviet Union
2. Little Octobrists are diligent, love school and respect elders.
3. Only the one who loves work can be called a Little Octobrist.
4. Little Octobrists are truthful, courageous, adroit and able.
5. Little Octobrists are friendly, they read, draw, play, sing and have fun.
Nanda-tanuja,
did you just describe the ideal brahmachari?
(My suggestion: just replace the word Octobrist with brahmachari and pioneer with sannyasi, and we're there.)
the design of that poster is great! I am partial to those strange communist graphic design posters/books. Some good stuff came out of that period.
hehe, pretty much
