Nothing like a history lesson to cheer up the day, Right?
No, seriously, I greatly encourage everyone with the opportunity to lend a hearing ear to the talk given by Bhrigupada at a recent seminar at Radhadesh. In his talk "GaudiyaMath in Europe 1933–7" tells us many things of value, not limited to historical facts, but also gives us a glimpse into what is essential in presenting Mahaprabhu's teachings. At least I found it both enlightening and enlivening.

You're not telling me that Bhrigu was at Radhadesh recently??
This link is directly to the file.
Am I the only one who can't open this link, or the one about the Fins?

I was, but only briefly, and (as I'm sure you can hear in the lecture) suffering from a pretty bad cold, so I wouldn't have been much of company. But it would otherwise have been nice to meet. Maybe next time...

I got nothing when I used Firefox, so I switched to Internet Explorer. It worked with IE. It was a very well organized and informative presentation. I would have liked to hear more discussion of just what's essential and what's not, but this must certainly have gotten discussion going. And I look forward to the publication(s) that will eventually evolve from the research.
Very nice, Bhrigu!
Thanks Babhruji! Nice to hear that you liked the presentation, but don't hold your breath for the publication -- I've been doing research on this topic on and off since 98 or so, and while I've managed to gather a lot of new material, much is still missing. Yes, the discussion never really got going, partly because I spoke too long, and partly because Shaunaka Prabhu's talk before me also contained many important points that were discussed afterwards. To me, the question re. social respectability vs. charismatic, spiritual success remains intriguing.
Here are some of the pictures from the PPT-presentation:

the podcast worked fine for me in firefox.
Ok I managed to listen to it; very interesting and useful.
By the way, for a Swede you sure sound a lot like Gurunistha.
for a Swede
Who ever said I am a Swede!? What an aparadha!
Oh so then you are a Swedish speaking Fin? I remember something was different with you.
hmm I think Bhrigu's English shows more influences of having been to India a lot.
