Sri Caitanya Sangha

Bhrigu - May 9, 2006 10:52 am

Dear devotees,

I am happy to announce that on the fifth of May, Sri Caitanya Sangha (sangha with an h means a group or an association, sanga means just company in general) was officially registered as a religious society in Finland. At the moment, we have twenty members (the minimum required), that is all of Guru Maharaja's disciples, some disciples of Sripad Narayana Maharaja, some disciples of ISKCON gurus, some non-initiated people favourable to Gaudiya Vaishnavism, and of course our angry vegan, Jananivas. No plans to build temples or appoint gurus just yet, but we will continue acting as an alternative to ISKCON and gathering Vaishnavas from different groups for festivals etc. The governing board of Sri Caitanya Sangha consists of Krishangi, Kamalaksa and me, and you will soon hear of our first major project... :P

Your servant,

Bhrigupada Dasa

Big step and a lot of responsibility to proudly carry the torch of Gaudiya siddhanta! Congratulations. It would be nice to read your official creed how it was filed.

Kamalaksa Das - May 9, 2006 6:03 pm

That's Sir Kamalaksa to you, private! Now go wash some milk pots!

(Voted least likely to be appointed guru from our group.)

It would be nice to read your official creed how it was filed.

It is available only in Finnish and Swedish, but I'll give a short synopsis here. As our creed we gave Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura's Dasa-mula-verse (amnaya praha tattvam...), adding that of all Bhagavan's saktis, Radha is the foremost. Another possible verse would have been Srinatha Cakravarti's aradhyo bhagavan...-verse, but it says less about the Sambandha-side of things than Bhaktivinoda's, and we also wanted to emphasise his position.

We will not provide our own gurus, but we will in the future have our own priest who can legally do weddings etc for members.

The society is meant for all followers of Bhaktivinoda in the line of Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati. There are two kinds of members: full members (with voting rights) are those that are initiated in this line, and supporting members, others sympathetic to the society but not initiated. The society is managed by a board of three directors, that are voted in for a year at a time by the yearly meeting of all members. The first, temporary board is the one I mentioned before. The managerial side follows the standard rules for such societies over here.
