Thanks for thinking of us, Jason. We had a 6.6 a little after 7:00 this morning, for 30 seconds, then a 5.8 aftershock about six minutes later. We were finishing taking care of the Deities, so I kept an eye on them. The quake was on the other side of the island, and there's more damage over here. The big disaster on our side is that cable and Roadrunner were out (!). We're fine, getting a kick out of the reports of complete misinformation our kids told us were on the cable news stations.

We had a 7.8 in '75. That one was really exciting!

Good to hear from you Babhru. I was thinking of you this morning when I heard it on the Dutch news.

From what I'm starting to gather, there was indeed considerably more damage on the other side of the island, although there were no serious injuries or deaths caused by this earthquake. Getting news was complicated by the fact that all the Honolulu TV stations were off the air for a good part of the day because the entire city (maybe the entire island--I'm not sure) had no power until some time in the evening. There were some broadcasts, I guess, but what I saw was outside at night because there was no power in the studios.

I know of a few devotess who live in areas of the island that were affected, but I haven't heard anything of their circumstances yet.

Everything on this side of the island is running normally today.
